![]() The new version, known as Scorpion W2, looks virtually the same as MultiCam or OCP, according to an Army source with knowledge of the program. So since the selection of Scorpion, Army camouflage experts have also decided to improve Scorpion. The MTD and MTC designs could perform similarly to MultiCam and Scorpion W2 in a range of terrains. The company's owner, Caleb Crye, then improved the pattern, making it more effective and trademarked it as MultiCam. The designs also possess good depth and disruption when viewed from a long distance away, so that the camouflage should not “blob” into a recognizable human shape at a distance. The MTD (Multiple Terrain Design) range of camouflages below feature a dendritic fractal style micro pattern, which helps in concealment at close to mid ranges. Some of my offerings based on this strategy are presented below. Some existing designs are remarkably good, but it is more realistic to have two designs – one for mid to dry terrains, and another for mid to wet terrains. To expect a camouflage to work in all terrains is not realistic, when you compare extreme terrains such as very light deserts with very dark equatorial jungles. This design is very versatile: in light coloured and drier natural or urban terrains, or in the dry season, the greener and darker parts of the camouflage could have light dust applied to obscure them and make the camouflage more effective, while in darker or greener terrains, or in the wet season, dark moist dark brown soil could be rubbed into the lighter portions of the camouflage, so that the design is mostly green and brown. The multi-terrain camouflage designs below would be suited to these zones, as well as dry grassy woodland terrains. Many conflicts are in or are likely to be in semi-arid zones.
